Regulation is part of good practice.

When our nervous system is in threat mode, it becomes harder to hold different explanations in mind and stay curious with the families we support. Regulation shapes our decisions and our relationships as much as our wellbeing.

"When my nervous system was regulated, my practice changed. I listened more carefully and reacted less."
Susana Carr, founder

What changes for practice

  • Sounder decisions under pressure, with room to weigh more than one explanation

  • Stronger relationships with families when conversations get difficult

  • Steadier preparation for court, child protection conferences and other high-stakes moments

  • Teams that stay well over time, which can help with burnout and sickness absence

Workshops for your team.

I run practical tapping workshops for social work, fostering and frontline teams, online or in person. Everyone tries tapping on something real and leaves with a tool they can use the same day.

What is EFT tapping?

EFT tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is a body-based way to settle your nervous system. You tap gently on set points on your face and body while naming what you feel. This can calm the stress response and bring you back into your window of tolerance, so you can think clearly again.

It takes a few minutes and needs no equipment. You can use it in the car before a difficult visit, or at night when a case won't leave your head.

For people who hold a lot at work.

I built MyTappyPlace for social workers first, because that's the work I know. Tapping can help anyone whose job means carrying other people's distress.

  • Fostering and permanence

  • Emergency services

Support for the moments in between.

The MyTappyPlace app has short guided tapping sessions for the moments work throws at you, from the drive to court to the 2am replay of a hard conversation.

What's weighing on you?

  • Overwhelm
  • Anxiety
  • Triggers
  • Frustration
  • Carrying it home
  • Sensory overload
  • Sessions of 2 to 5 minutes, plus longer ones for deeper work

  • Sessions organised by emotion and by situation

  • Calm and uncluttered, with no streaks or nagging notifications, so it works for neurodivergent brains

  • No tapping experience needed

Free 8-week access to the app

In return, I ask you to complete a short wellbeing questionnaire at the start and end, and share your feedback. This helps me evaluate the app before launch. Open to UK social workers and social care practitioners until 30 November 2026.

What the research says.

Research into EFT tapping is growing, and the findings so far are encouraging.

40%

lower anxiety

37%

lower cortisol

In a 2019 study of workshop participants, anxiety fell by 40% and cortisol, a key stress hormone, by 37%.

Bach D et al. Journal of Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine 2019

I'm now running a service evaluation with UK social care practitioners using the app, and I'll share the findings here.

Tapping supports wellbeing alongside supervision and therapy. It doesn't replace either.

Built by someone who knows the work.

I'm Susana Carr, a registered social worker with fifteen years' experience in children's and adults' services. I'm the Registered Manager of an independent fostering agency and a Level 2 EFT practitioner.

In 2024 I found tapping during the hardest period of my life. It helped me steady myself while I kept working, and it changed how I practised. I built MyTappyPlace so others doing this work can have the same tool.
