This Started With Me.

I've spent my career working with children, families and carers in the most complex placements, sitting with grief, holding risk, and showing up for people in crisis, day after day.

I know what this work costs. And I know that most of us have no tools for what it does to our nervous systems. MyTappyPlace exists because regulation matters, for us, and for the people we're here to support.

How I got here.

Susana Carr, founder of MyTappyPlace

Hi, I'm Susana Carr, a qualified Social Worker, Registered Manager of an Ofsted Outstanding therapeutic fostering agency, and certified EFT Practitioner.

In 2024, I witnessed my son nearly die in a horrific accident. I was left with PTSD and went back to work the following week. I was holding my own trauma whilst parenting a traumatised child at home. I was barely coping. Yet I turned up every day, showing a brave face, but weeping and crumbling inside.

Then I came across Emotional Freedom Techniques by coincidence, on a yoga weekend. The impact from just one session was instant and profound. I felt calm and grounded for the first time in months, and within weeks, my PTSD symptoms were gone.

The Insight

That experience changed how I understood what we need as practitioners, but also what we're missing. Reflective supervision and peer support just aren't enough, we can't access these types of support when we're in the middle of a crisis, or about to knock on the front door before an unannounced visit. We need something we can use in the moment when overwhelm and anxiety hits us. Something quick and easy that we can use on our own terms.

When my nervous system was regulated, my practice changed. I listened more carefully. I reacted less. I stayed connected to the people in front of me, even under pressure. And I knew that if every social worker dealing with the weight of this work had access to this tool, something would shift in the way we perceive and manage those moments of complexity and dysregulation.

That's the gap MyTappyPlace is here to fill.

There's something else too. I was diagnosed with ADHD, which explained a lot about how I'd always processed the world, the times I'd felt overwhelmed in environments that others seemed to navigate with ease, the moments where my brain simply wouldn't switch off no matter how tired I was. A diagnosis doesn't change who I am, but it does add another layer to why I built this the way I did. MyTappyPlace is calm, uncluttered, and never demanding, because that's what I needed too. Not just as a social worker carrying trauma, but as someone whose nervous system was already working overtime.

Our Values

Trauma-informed.

We understand the emotional weight of our work. This app is designed with that in mind. The app is never demanding, never overwhelming.

Relationship-based.

Just as good social work centres the relationship, this app is about helping us with our relationship ourselves and our own emotional regulation.

Evidence-backed.

EFT has a significant evidence base demonstrating its effectiveness in reducing symptoms of anxiety, stress, depression, insomnia, and vicarious trauma. This is an evidence-informed method, not just a trend.

Respectful of professional boundaries.

MyTappyPlace is designed to support our wellbeing alongside supervision, therapy, and reflective practice, never to replace them.

Accessible and practical.

Whether it's a mindful pause at our desk, grounding ourselves in a quiet corner, or releasing tension in the car before a visit, the sessions are designed to fit into real work-life.

Neurodivergent-friendly.

MyTappyPlace was built by someone who is neurodivergent, so the experience is deliberately calm, uncluttered, and free from the pressure of streaks, notifications, or rigid routines. You use it on your own terms, in your own time.

You Deserve This Too.

MyTappyPlace was created to support the nervous systems of people doing some of the hardest and most important work there is. We deserve tools that help us be calm and present even in the most difficult of situations.
