Wellbeing training for healthcare teams

Healthcare staff carry other people's hardest days as a normal part of their own. On a ward or out in the community, there is rarely time to process one difficult moment before the next one arrives.

If you lead staff wellbeing for an NHS or hospice team, I run workshops that give staff a practical way to settle their nervous system during a shift and after it.

When there is no time to come back down

Under pressure, the body moves into protection mode. Heart rate climbs and attention narrows to the task in front of us. That helps in an emergency. When it happens shift after shift, with little chance to recover, it takes its toll.

A regulated clinician or care worker thinks more clearly and stays present with patients and families, including in the hardest conversations. Building regulation into how a team works is part of safe, compassionate care.

Grief and loss build up too. I've written about burnout in social work, and a lot of it will be familiar to healthcare staff.

What the workshop covers

I explain the stress response in plain terms, then teach EFT tapping: tapping on points on the face and upper body while naming what you feel. We practise together, and staff leave with a short routine they can use in a break or on the way home.

No one has to share anything personal. You can tap along while privately thinking of a difficult moment from work. It helps if someone is happy to offer a general example for the group, but this is always optional.

Tapping may help staff feel calmer after a hard shift. If your team likes to see the evidence first, I've summarised what the research says.

About me

I'm Susana Carr, founder of MyTappyPlace. I'm a registered social worker with over fifteen years in social care and a Level 2 EFT practitioner. I've worked in hospital discharge, including end of life care, alongside ward teams. Before I qualified, I worked with adults with physical disabilities.

I started using EFT in 2024, after a frightening experience in my family, and found it gave me something to hold on to.

I have delivered workshops for Cafcass and the National Association of Supported Accommodation Providers.

Talk to me about your team

Get in touch and tell me about your team and how shifts work, and we can find a format that fits. I'm offering a founding-partner rate to the first organisations I work with, in return for feedback and a short case study.

If you'd like to try tapping first, the free three-minute session needs no sign-up.
